Putnik & Other Springs

On the opposite side of the road from Krajputas is the well-known Putnik Spring, one of many springs in the town. The water that flows from it is pristine and ice-cold. It has a constant flow and was known to be a place where travelers would stop to drink from, hence the name "Putnik" or "Traveller." Today, visitors still stop to fill their water bottles at this place. Old villagers have told us that this area was also walled in stone, and steps led down from the level of the road to several pipes set into the bank that channeled the flow of water. In addition to Putnik, the town had several other sources of drinking water: Spanovac (to the right of the road leading up to Zrinski’s Fortress), Bjelovac (to the right, slightly northeast of Spanovac, on the eastern side of the Zrincica Stream/River), and then Kasmovac (near the lower school, along the road to Dvor).
